Orchids, mosses, lichens and bromeliads are epiphytic organisms (epi-live on; phyte-plants) are highly diverse in the Andean cloud forests. However, it is necessary to carry out more research in order to know not only biodiversity aspects but also ecology and functionality of these canopy groups.
